New ask Hacker News story: Human as abstraction
Human as abstraction

Corporations are made of deep layers of abstractions between actual humans using their products/services and management in charge of making decisions (VP of products, VP of operations, etc.) Humans are now seen by corporations like aggregates of particles in physics or compounds in chemistry. A set of them might evaporate, but you can add more. In a closed system (cf. an oligopoly) they can't go away, only move around. To what extent are humans meaningful for corporations, when only their money, attention, and data is valuable for the business?
