Hi HN! I'm Gabe, the creator of Songcraft ( https://ift.tt/2Oe8G4J ). I recently dove headfirst into songwriting, and I quickly grew frustrated with my process. I found songwriting difficult enough without having to wrangle a mess of different tools, and there's no great solution to build chord sheets and tabs (unless you love pure text input). So, I built Songcraft - an online songwriting platform and tab builder. The drag-and-drop editor makes it easy to jump from chords to lyrics to melodies. I added a chord progression generator and chord recommendation engine to ensure the ideas keep flowing. The integrated tuner, rhyming dictionary, metronome, and audio recorder allow you to stay focused without distraction. A few months ago I shared the beta on Hacker News and got some incredibly helpful feedback and some amazing beta users. Since then, I've revamped the product and made a ton of improvements and additions. Today is launch day, and I wouldn't be here without Hacker News! Some filters I've had working in Gmail for years seem to have intermittently stopped working over the last year or so. I'll have a filter with a simple subject line match, and now I'm getting these messages in my Inbox, when they should be bypassing it. Haven't been able to discern any pattern to this yet, but I haven't really dug into it. I wonder why the regression? Is this some kind of throttling? Like approximate matching?

The current non Pro/Air Macbook appears to have the performance of a 2015 MBP in many respects, so in theory it should be a viable laptop to develop iOS apps on. It can be built with i5 or i7 CPU, 16GB RAM, and adequate storage that has better performance than was possible just a few years ago... The HN crowd is vast and active, so there must be a number of people with direct current experience developing iOS apps with the standard Macbook. What are your thoughts?

It's one of the first times that I have genuinely enjoyed programming and I want to make something really cool now. I am hoping there are a couple of others out there in the same boat, that have a few hours each week to work on something interesting together, while honing our Clojure skills. I would love to get a small group of people together (preferably in the early stages of learning and working with Clojure) to build something meaningful and interesting together. I don't have ideas yet, but it would interesting if it harnessed high concurrency and some distributed processing so we could get better at Clojure's bread and butter. I'm developer and after a year on a MacBook pro I'm still missing things like i3wm. Also, touchbar of MBP is just a nuisance. On the other hand I like screen, weight and battery life of MBP, best of all laptops I've ever had, but I still want to go back home to linux. I'm currently considering 1) Dell XPS 15 (but the previous one I've had had only 2-3 hours of battery life) 2) Huawei Matebook X Pro, but I prefer 15" screen to 14"

We've been looking into options for setting up our new conference room (~12x12' with table for 8), and have been finding it hard - the conference room technology scene looks like it's stuck in the 90s with old school products at super high prices. Wanted to know what similar startups have opted for for video calls -- we mostly use Zoom and Hangouts and so a simple log in process (iPad?), good camera and good mic for a not-unreasonable price is what we're looking for. Appreciate any and all experiences!

For reference, the current job ad is the industry standard laundry list of tech used, tech expected and a pretty tame sales pitch about the company.
